, es decir, «El Almirante Vernon tomando la villa de Cartagena». Tras la abrumadora derrota sufrida por Vernon en Cartagena, las medallas fueron retiradas, aunque se conservaron algunas.

English medal commemorating the "taking" of Cartagena de Indias by admiral
Edward Vernon
during the
War of Jenkins' Ear
. The medal depicts admiral Vernon holding a command stick and finger pointing the city, with his fleet behind him. The medal says "Admiral Vernon Vhinning the Town of Carthagana". After the crushing defeat suffered by the English fleet in Cartagena, the medals were retired, but some were saved.
